Image of me and my teammates from my internship this summer!
After a ten week internship, I was invited by my team to stay on through the remainder of my senior year of college to continue my projects!
Never in a million years would I have thought I would like project management as much as I did. Typically, I like to have a tight sense of control of my work - overseeing nearly every detail to ensure it meets my (unreasonably) high standards. Working in this PM has taught me so much about the power of delegation, how to say "no", and how to reliably trust others.
Group projects, in the real world, are hardly ever a "one way" street - you simply cannot just do someone else's part. I can't always make the engineers submit something any faster or have sales do something the way that is best for my team. You simply have to learn to be patient, adapt, and escalate when necessary - all skills that, whether or not I gain the opportunity to stay here after college, will certainly serve me well in the future.
